Glamorgan journalism student Owain Johns has just finished a unique work placement in New York.
Keen to forge a career in sports journalism, Owain, 20, has been writing football reports for years.
He said, “I needed to do work experience as part of my journalism degree, so I thought I’d be a bit more ambitious and look into working in America.”
Owain got in touch with the Welsh Assembly, which has offices at the Chrysler Building in New York.
They invited him to spend a week in the Big Apple, helping out with the press and publicity for Wales Week USA – an annual event which takes place around St David’s Day.
Owain said the trip was an exciting chance.
Wales Week is co-ordinated by the Welsh Assembly Government in New York in partnership with a wide variety of artists, performers and organisations.
Owain is a student at the University of Glamorgan’s brand new ATRiuM building at the heart of Cardiff city centre.
